Sponsors' claims

The "Government Ethics Reform" initiative sponsors have made many misleading statements about the "ethics" initiative. When concerns are raised about the initiative, sponsors typically respond that concerns are unfounded. When the initiative is quoted - demonstrating that concerns are NOT unfounded and that the initiative has serious flaws - sponsors regularly respond that the legislature can simply fix the problems after the initiative passes. The sponsors certainly understand, however, that it is politically unfeasible for the legislature to make changes to a law put in place by a citizens' initiative. Once the "Government Ethics Reform" initiative is in place, we will be stuck with it.
